- Problem identification techniques: 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis.
- Effective questioning techniques to solve the right problem.
Measurement and Data Collection
- Study the process and its performance.
- Develop a data and information collection plan.
- Determine baseline measures and quantify performance gaps.
Root Cause Analysis
- Identify and analyze the root causes of the problem.
- 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, Tree diagrams, Root Cause Verification Matrix.
- Determine the most probable causes and review them.
Generating and Selecting Solutions
- Generate potential solutions.
- Establish rating and selection criteria.
- Brainstorming, multi-voting, affinity diagrams, scatter diagrams, selection matrices, force field analysis.
- Interviews and surveys to gather input.
Improvement and Implementation
- Select the best alternative solution.
- Develop an implementation project plan.
- Pilot or test the solution.
- Collect data to verify the performance gap is closed.
- Revise the solution if needed.
Continuous Improvement
- Evolution of processes and strategic decision-making.
